The National Statistics Office (NSO) found that in the period between 2004 and 2007, the rate of population over 11 years old who exercised, increased from 29.2% to 29.6%. However, there were differences in age groups. 73.1% of 11-14-year olds exercised, while only 45.4% of 15-24-year olds exercised and only 28% of the population of 60-year olds and above exercised. By contrast only 19.7% of 25-59 years old in the workforce exercised.
There has been continual development of public facilities and amenities for physical exercise. At present there are gymnasiums of international standard in 76 provinces. Moreover, there are also 50,776 stadiums or sports grounds and 12,880 public parks and places for relaxation. Currently educational institutes and all government organizations open their stadiums to the general public to exercise in.
