ThaiHealth aims to enhance the capacity of villages, sub-districts, districts, and provinces to carry out health promotion. We collaborate with communities throughout the country to develop sustainable models that can be replicated elsewhere. Cooperation has been sought from businesses, non-governmental organizations, and civil society, and networks have been established. In 2002-2004, activities were carried out 10-15 provinces. Future work will concentrate on replicating these efforts, enhancing sharing and cooperation, and influencing policy. The goals for the period 2005-2007 will be the same as those for 2002-2004.
Activities
- Replicate models
Information will be compiled on existing pilot projects. This information, and existing networks, will be used to replicate the projects in 2000 sites across the country.
- Enhancement of cooperation among organizations working on community health promotion
ThaiHealth will develop forums for private organizations and state agencies to share ideas and coordinate their activities.
- Support knowledge management
ThaiHealth will provide support for the compilation and analysis of lessons learned, for knowledge management at the community level, for database development, and for knowledge dissemination.
- Capacity-building
We support organizational and individual capacity-building through training and study visits.
- Disseminate information about community health promotion
Use the mainstream and alternative media to disseminate information about successful community health programs, to popularize ideas about health conscious communities, and to shape health promotion policies.
