    It is certain that the heart of every Thai person in every part of the nation is supporting their fellow countrymen who are currently facing floods. In addition to morale support, we can see that many people are donating necessities, whether in large or small quantities, according to their ability to give. Thai Health Promotion Foundation Office is one organization that is not standing by and doing nothing, and is doing its part in helping residents in flood – stricken parts of the nation.

    From September 10 – 11, 2011, delegates and administrators from the Malaysia Health Promotion Board, led by Prof. Dr. Lekhraj Rampal, the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Dr. Yahya Bin Baba, the CEO of the Board, and 4 other administrators traveled to visit Sukhothai Historical City, to study tobacco control measures and the Sukhothai Smoke – Free Historical City Program.

    On August 31, 2011, the International Relations Section of Thai Health Promotion Foudnation welcomed foreign delegates from Sahmyook University, South Korea. Delegates included professors, as well as Public Health Masters Degree students from Ghana, South Korea, Tanzania, the Philippines, the United States, and South Africa.

    The International Relations Section of Thai Health Promotion Foundation welcomed 9 high ranking administrators and delegates from the public sector and private development organizations from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Their visit was part of a field trip for the Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation for Development Course at the Asian Institute of Technology. The visit is aimed at learning about the activity and work plan management, and project monitoring and evaluation at Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

    The Tzu Chi Foundation from Taiwan is exchanging its work experience with Thai Health Promotion Foundation. “Dr. Krissada” aims to learn from the Tzu Chi Foundation to drive the creation of a volunteer spirit in Thailand.

    The International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) has selected Thai Health Promotion Foundation to host the 21st IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion in 2013. Thailand will be the first nation in the Asian region to host the conference, which will be an opportunity for Thai Health Promotion Foundation to show the world its accomplishments in health promotion. Thai people are invited to participate as good hosts in welcoming over 3,000 conference delegates from around the world.

              The Lao Deputy Minister of Public Health and high ranking administrators from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic visited the Thai Health Promotion Foundation Office with the hope of studying the organization’s establishment, management, and structure so that they can adapt these elements for health promotion campaigns and tobacco consumption control in Laos.

    On the 4-5 October 2010, Malaysian Health Promotion Board has visited to ThaiHealth Promotion Foundation (TPF) concerning on governance structure, funding mechanisms, progression, capacity building, and reach with TPF’s partners. During the study visit, there were 3 organizations including, National Health Foundation, Tooth Friendly Network, and SEATCA have shared their experiences issuing on the partners’ capacity building that TPF has recently succeeded.

    ThaiHealth’s participation in the 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion, 11-15 July 2010, Geneva, Switzerland

    ThaiHealth and members of its partner organizations participated in the 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion, 11-15 July 2010, Geneva, Switzerland. Thailand’s experience on health promotion was presented through oral and poster presentations. ThaiHealth also exhibited its works and initiatives in the exhibition booth. More importantly, it proposed to be the host for the 21st IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion.

    On February 15 – 19, 2010 ThaiHealth welcomes five delegates from Samoa government. The group consists of Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Parliamentarian, Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of Education, representative of Ministry of Health and Attorney Office. Their major focus was to learn how to set up ThaiHealth by utilize sin taxes as a funding source for health promotion, share and exchange experiences in promoting healthy lifestyles and addressing non-communicable disease including advocating health at political level.

    November 10, 2008, a group from Laos visited ThaiHealth to learn and share information on tobacco control laws. The group consisted of eleven Laotians from Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Public Health and non-governmental organizations. As part of the visit, the group also planned to establish the Laotian health promotion fund.

    November 12, 2008, ThaiHealth welcomed ten Indonesian Senators who paid ThaiHealth a visit to learn about tax, tobacco control and health promotion. The Senators put their intention to strengthen Indonesian tobacco consumption control policies. Their major focus was given to the utilization of sin taxes as a funding source for health promotion.

    On January 20 – 30, 2009, ThaiHealth received three guests from Mongolian Health Promotion Foundation who visited ThaiHealth for office administration, academic exchange and health promotion activities. The visit was under the ProLead Project which was the collaboration between WHO and ThaiHealth. Under the Project, ThaiHealth acted as a mentor to Mongolia to assist with technical and managerial supports for the establishment of Mongolian health promotion foundation.

    Few months later, ThaiHealth introduced its social marketing plan and campaigns to six Vietnameses from the BBC World Service Trust. Being supported by the Asian Development Bank, the Trust laid down the capacity building policy for its staff and worked on communication and campaigning for the project “Prevention of HIV/AIDs in Vietnamese Teenagers” in fifteen provinces.

    ThaiHealth was visited by Sri Lankan officials from Communication Section, Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition, Sri Lanka, on July 13 – 17, 2009. Receiving supports from the World Health Organization, the officials were interested in ThaiHealth’s communication and social marketing. During the one week visit, the two parties exchanged experiences in communication for health and field visits were taken place at Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

    Professor Doe Mayer, a Visiting Professor of ThaiHealth’s Academic Development Section, gave a special lecture on “Health Communication: Edutainment and the Hollywood model use by University of Southern California” on July 20, 2009, at ThaiHealth office. Professor Mayer is an expert as well as a professor in communication from the University of Southern California, USA.
